Today has been an exciting day for Madonna fans. Not only has the singer’s official VEVO page been unveiled, but the second single off her album, “MDNA,” has also been unveiled. The track, “Girl Gone Wild,” is pure dance. It’s a track that sounds similar to Madonna’s “Confessions on a Dance Floor” album (see if you can catch the “Sorry” reference). It was co-produced by Benni and Alle Benassi, who did a killer remix for her 2009 single, “Celebration.” The song is a refreshing return to what Madonna does best. Her last studio album, “Hard Candy,” found Madonna going very mainstream, working with the likes of Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, and Timbaland. It reminded fans of the mainstream sound of her “Bedtime Stories” album in 1994. It was a good effort, but I didn’t consider it to be on the same level as her “best work.” I believe Madonna does best when she’s working with underground producers who aren’t very well-known in the mainstream. Stephen Bray, Patrick Leonard, Shep Pettibone, William Orbit, Stuart Price. Those are the kind of artists Madonna makes magic with. And this song is a great way to hype fans for the album’s release next month (March 26). According to her manager (twitter.com/guyoseary), Madonna is shooting the video for the song this week! I can’t wait to see what she’s got in store for us this time!
